Money & Banking:

Tipping in Thailand

Tipping isn’t that common in Thailand and if you do tip the levels of tipping are much lower than in your home country. If you leave a large bill the staff will come after you thinking you’ve forgotten your money.

You may wish to tip a little more for a massage as it’s quite a exhausting job and wages are very low. A 100 baht tip is fine, 200 baht is very good.

A 20 baht note with a few coins is usually enough after a meal but isn’t expected.

Round up your taxi fare by 20-30 baht depending on the journey. Even a 20 baht tip will be welcomed. A Taxi driver can buy lunch for 50 baht. Taxi’s are so cheap compared to back home.
