Top Tips

  • Consider using Revolut it is a life saver in Thailand for many reasons. See my article on Revolut and why it’s so good.
  • Consider getting a couple of thousand baht at home in smaller denominations (500 and less) to avoid having to use the ATM when you;ve just landed.
  • If you get a Taxi from the airport you will need small notes. A 1000 baht note is almost useless. Change a 1000 baht note at a 7-11 at the airport by buying some small items or snacks.
  • Tell your bank you are coming out to Thailand to avoid you card being blocked by the banks fraud department.
  • Bring more than one card – ATM‘s give cash first and then your card. many people walk away forgetting their card.
  • Always decline the local conversion rate if suggested at ATM’s
  • Take out larger amounts from ATM’s to reduce the impact of the 250 baht ATM fee.
